When the fraudsters steal the information present on your card while being used in ATMs or merchant establishments, then such fraud falls under the category of CARD SKIMMING.

How does one commit it?

Fraudsters plant a skimming device to the ATM's card slot. This device scans the magnetic strip on your card and stores the card information.When a customer enters his PIN, the wireless skimming device shares all the data to the fraudsters.This information is then used by the fraudsters for online shopping or to make counterfeit credit cards or debit cards.

How to save myself from Card Skimming?

Do's

  • If you see any of the below signs on the ATM machine
    • There are more than one keypad or the card reader slot
    • The keypad or the card reader slot appears too thick or looks added-on
    • Any part of the ATM fits poorly or does not feel securely attached
    • Your card gets stuck in the ATM
    • Cash is not dispensed after you keying in a transaction
    • Camera instead of being behind the ATM, is positioned at such a place where it can capture the keypad
    • Then stop your transaction by pressing the cancel button and <call our phone banking number>
  • If your card is lost, stolen or tampered it, get it blocked immediately by contacting us.

  • Do not try to remove suspicious devices from the ATM yourself
  • Never reveal your pin to the cashier/shopkeeper
  • While making payments at any outlst, never lose the sight of your card
